In the early 1970s, Lee and Bill operated Kashway Home Center, a subsidiary of Stratton Lumber Company, for several years before it was sold. It was a newly designed "Do-It-Yourself" operation with a full line of hardware, appliances, paint and wallpaper, and unfinished furniture. Bill managed the business while Lee taught business courses at Jessamine County High for 13 years. Lee's hobbies and interests include collecting and constucting dollhouses and miniatures, needlework, and gardening.
In 1991, Lee Stratton Baker purchased Stratton Lumber Incorporated from her family, making it one of the few hardware and lumber businesses in the state to be 100% woman owned. Stratton Lumber Company continues on today with the same principles of hard work, common honesty, and fairness to the customer as the family business was founded on in 1947.
Stratton Lumber & Hardware strives to provide quality building materials, products, and qualified, informed employees to provide information and services needed to complete any size commercial, agricultural, or residential project.
